Huawei made a surprise by launching its newest foldable smartphone, the HUAWEI P50 Pocket. But interestingly, Huawei has also introduced its newest smartwatch, the HUAWEI Watch D, whose specifications have been leaked on the internet for the past few weeks.
The Chinese tech giant has launched the HUAWEI Watch D with a color touchscreen. Equipped with AMOLED panel technology measuring 1.64 inches, the resolution is 456 x 280 pixels and the pixel density is up to 326 ppi.
The body is made of scratch-resistant aluminum alloy and is available in two color options, Black and Titanium.
The Watch D strap is made of fluoro rubber and is available in medium and large sizes. The former is 11.8 cm long, and the latter is 13.3 cm long.
The smartwatch also comes with a standard set of health and fitness features, such as a step counter, heart rate monitor, sleep tracking and SpO2 monitor.
However, the main highlight of the Huawei Watch D is its ability to record ECG and measure blood pressure.
With the Huawei TruBP feature, the HUAWEI Watch D uses a micro air pump and air bag for wrist-based blood pressure measurement.
From the stage at the launch event held in China, Huawei said it had integrated a high-precision pressure sensor, pressure feedback control circuit and low-flow resistance gas path to obtain measurements with an error margin of ±3mmHg.
For ECG, the Watch D relies on TruSeen 5.0+ technology by utilizing eight circular photoelectric sensors and a pair of light sources with curved sapphire glass lenses and PVD-coated ECG electrodes to filter out interference to achieve accurate results.
Watch D is also advertised by Huawei as having the ability to detect the risk of Atherosclerosis, Arrhythmia, and Sleep Apnea.
The Chinese technology company also emphasized that users of this smartwatch can quickly consult online with experts to help understand their health data.
Huawei said it has partnered with 301 hospitals in China to test the accuracy and reliability of the Watch D. In addition, the Watch D has also been registered as a Class II medical device at the Food and Drug Administration in China.
Other advantages of HUAWEI Watch D include temperature sensor features, multi-function NFC, and IP68 certification, which makes this smartwatch dust and water resistant.
Huawei didn’t reveal the Watch D’s battery capacity, but it promises to last up to seven days in normal usage scenarios.
The HUAWEI Watch D is priced at CNY 2,988. For consumers who are interested in this smartwatch, Huawei has started selling it in China from December 25, 2021. There is no further information about the availability of HUAWEI Watch D in the global market.
