SciTechSamsung to Launch Exynos 2200 Chipset in January 2022

Samsung soon followed in the footsteps of Qualcomm and MediaTek which had previously launched a snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and Dimensity 9000 chipset.

The South Korean technology company officially unveiled the next Exynos processor named Exynos 2200. The new processor will be announced on January 11, 2022.

Ahead of its launch, Samsung has launched a teaser about the Exynos 2200 chipset with the hashtag #PlaytimeIsOver. The hashtag aims to hint at the performance of Samsung’s latest processor.

Although Samsung has not opened detailed information about the Exynos 2200, but according to Gizmochina (31/12/2021), reportedly Samsung does not use a 4nm process like snapdragon 8 Gen 1 but may have the same 5nm process as in the Exynos 2100.

The Exynos 2200 will be powered by graphics card technology from AMD RDNA2 GPUs seen in PCs and consoles. Therefore, the processor will come with impressive features such as ray-tracing and variable rate shading.

The Exynos 2200 will be an octa-core chipset with 1 Cortex-X2 CPU core, 3 Cortex-A710 CPU cores, and 4 Cortex-A510 CPU cores. It is also expected to have an improved 5G modem, better image signal processing (ISP), and improved AI processing.

The Exynos 2200 chipset will be Samsung’s mainstay for use in upcoming flagship smartphones such as the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra in several countries. While other markets including India and China will get Galaxy S22 units powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
