Monstrous Storyline
Jung Ki Hoon (Koo Kyo Hwan) never expected to meet his ex-wife, Lee Soo Jin (Shin Hyun Been) again in such a scary situation. The two have to face a super strange phenomenon that occurs in Jinyang County, which involves the existence of ‘Gwibul’, a Buddha statue that is possessed by an evil spirit.
As an archaeologist, Jung Ki Hoon often investigates various strange phenomena that occur. And in the midst of his busy schedule of publishing occult magazines and running the YouTube channel ‘Monthly Strange Story’, he went to Jinyang County to research Gwibul.
Meanwhile, Lee Soo Jin has been living in Jinyang County since separating from Jung Ki Hoon. The divorce between an eccentric archaeologist and a genius cryptanalyst (code-breaking expert) follows an incident that claimed the life of their only daughter.
In Jinyang County, Lee Soo Jin experiences a mysterious phenomenon that triggers her to search for answers behind the phenomenon. Not only Lee Soo Jin, this strange phenomenon was also faced by people living in the area.
Among them are police officer Han Seok Hee (Kim Ji Young) and her stubborn son, Han Do Kyung (Nam Dae Rum). Likewise, the leader of Jinyang County, Kwon Jong Soo (Park Ho San) and the troublemaker Kwak Yong Joo (Kwak Dong Yeon) who consider the terrible disaster that befell their area is just a fairy tale.
