Bloody Heart Storyline

After ascending the throne, Lee Tae (Lee Joon) believes that all his actions must be justified to achieve the goal. This new king envisions a government in the form of an absolute monarchy, where the leader has full power because there are no binding legal restrictions.

Even when necessary, Lee Tae did not hesitate to take illegal or dishonest paths to achieve his goals. This idea is strongly opposed by Park Gye Won (Jung Hyuk), the First Deputy Prime Minister in the Joseon dynasty.

Park Gye Won is the one who helped Lee Tae’s father overthrow the previous king and pave the way for his father to become king in the new dynasty. In fact, Park Gye Won has tremendous power in the government, even stronger than the king.

In the past, Park Gye Won had a love affair with Choi Ga Yeon (Park Ji Yun) to the point of dreaming of a future together. But various changes in life make this couple have to end their relationship.

Choi Ga Yeon then becomes an ambitious queen dowager, while Park Gye Won becomes the First Prime Minister and the true owner of power in Joseon.

Meanwhile, Lee Tae had a romantic relationship with a daughter from a noble family, Yoo Jung (Kang Han Na). Even Lee Tae was sure that Yoo Jung would become his wife, so Yoo Jung’s family began to get involved in a power struggle in the palace.

But their love journey did not go smoothly. Lee Tae must choose between his idea of implementing a monarchy system or maintaining love after he has to face Yoo Jung in a heated political battle.
