The heist that changed the world will now happen in Korea in the thrilling crime series, Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area. Inspired by the popular Spanish series, La Casa de Papel, the Korean version of Money Heist can be watched starting June 24, 2022 via the Netflix live video streaming platform.
Money Heist: Korea is set in the same fictional world as the original series. Following the incredible heist in Spain, Yoo Ji Tae (Healer, Mad Dog) plans to start one himself as the Professor, the mastermind behind a similar operation that’s going to take place amid the union of North and South Korea. With a team of people from both sides of Korea, they pursue one goal: to steal the new unified Korean currency that hasn’t been spread yet.
The series La Casa de Papel or Money Heist itself received a lively reception from the audience after being distributed internationally. The series even became the most anticipated series on Netflix for 6 consecutive weeks, and then went on to win an International Emmy Award for the Best Drama Series category. BH Entertainment and Contents Zium are set to produce the Korean remake/spinoff of the series, with Kim Hong Seon (The Guest, Voice) directing.

Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area Storyline
The union of North and South Korea is thought to be a good thing for everyone, but in reality it will only benefit a few in power. This is what the Professor (Yoo Ji Tae) observes, as an intelligent strategist who is skeptical of the Korean reunification plan. Therefore, the Professor gathers like-minded people to carry out a major robbery operation on a national scale. The target? The Korean Unification Mint Building.
Inviting Tokyo (Jeon Jong Seo), Berlin (Park Hae Soo), Rio (Lee Hyun Woo), Moscow (Lee Won Jong), Denver (Kim Ji Hoon), Nairobi (Jang Yoon Joo), Helsinski (Kim Ji Hoon), and Oslo (Lee Kyu Ho), the Professor plans the theft of four trillion won of Korea’s new unreleased currency. Meanwhile, former North Korean agent Cha Moo Hyeok (Kim Sung Oh) and South Korean negotiation specialist Seon Woo Jin (Kim Yun Jin) are tasked with dealing with the threat from the Professor’s team. In the midst of tension, the thieves are faced with not only resistance from outside, but also fierce disputes that begin to brew within themselves.
