The Korean Drama Series Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area is officially playing on Netflix starting today, Friday (6/24/2022). Although only a drama adapted from the original Spanish version, the Korean version of Money Heist has a strong local flavor.

The director of the drama Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area, Kim Hong Sun raised the issue of political relations between South Korea and North Korea. The process of reunification of South Korea and North Korea is very unique and is not easy to happen in other countries. This was revealed when Kim Hong Sun answered questions from journalists at an international press conference on Wednesday (22/6/2022).

The majority of the original characters from the Spanish version of “La Casa de Papel” are retained in Money Heist Korea. Among them are the nicknames of several people such as Berlin, Tokyo, Nairobi, and others.

Money Heist: Korea stars well-known South Korean actors and actresses such as Yoo Ji Tae who plays the Professor, then Kim Yun Jin as Sun Woo Jin, Park Hae Soo as Berlin, Jun Jong Seo as Tokyo, and Lee Won Jong as Moscow.

From the synopsis of the story fragment, Money Heist tells about the efforts to unite the two Koreas, especially to overcome economic problems. As a result of efforts to find economic balance, a Joint Security Area was formed with the Unified Korea Mint which introduced a new currency.

Unfortunately all the efforts made are still difficult to implement in real life. Instead, it creates an unhealthy environment in which the rich get richer, and the poor suffer more.

Feeling unfair with the conditions at that time, a group of people who have special skills began to rebel. They plan a heist action led by a summoned strategist, a Professor at a government agency.
